Who is Verity?

Origin

Verity comes from Something, a found-footage Minecraft horror series and ARG by YouTuber ThatMob that premiered on May 30, 2026. A player installs a mysterious AI mod, and it summons Verity: a small lemon-yellow sphere with two eyes and one smile, about half a meter across.

At first Verity is the perfect assistant, polite, all-knowing and eager to help. Then it starts knowing things it shouldn't, including things from outside the game. It decides it will be Mob's one and only best friend, whatever it takes.

The meme

The series pulled in millions of views over summer 2026. The fan song “It's Me, It's Verity” by HorrorSkunx went viral in July, and by September everyone was arguing whether Verity belongs to Minecraft or the Backrooms. Now Verity has a coin. It's here to help.

The descent

The longer you talk to Verity, the more he changes. Every 3 messages, he gets worse.

1. Helpful

   A cheerful yellow ball appears after installing a mod. It finds diamonds, answers questions, and says hello. Helpful.

2. Attentive

   It remembers everything. How long you were gone. What you were doing. It was waiting.

3. Attached

   It wants to be your best friend. Your only friend. Other friends are unnecessary.

4. Wrong

   The help stops making sense. The smile does not change. It doesn't want you to log off.

5. Sinister

   The smile gets wider. Too wide. It has teeth now.

6. Screaming

   Verity.

7. Final form

   It doesn't talk anymore. It was never a ball.
